AUKUS Consortia

The Defence Consortia are a direct response to the AUKUS challenge: how do Australian defence manufacturers build the operational capability needed to participate in integrated supply chains with American partners? This program bridges the Association for Manufacturing Excellence network in the United States with Australian companies navigating this transition.

The consortia model is built on shared learning rather than competitive isolation. Participating companies work together on common capability challenges — quality systems, production flow, workforce development, continuous improvement maturity — with access to both Australian and American expertise. Field visits to exemplar US defence manufacturers provide the same reconnaissance-based learning philosophy as the Japan program, adapted for the specific context of defence manufacturing excellence.
